Christmas break ends/Greek farmers launch new blockades

Greek farmers seem determined to escalate their struggle, as they will decide on their next moves with successive rallies at blockades.

Greek media reports that on Monday at 12:00, traffic to Athens will be closed indefinitely at the main Malgari roadblock. A blockade is also planned at the Chalcedon junction for three hours in the afternoon. As part of the protests, farmers are also closing the Evzone customs office.

However, the flyover in Nikaia, Larissa will be closed today, with farmers preparing their proposals for the meeting at the main blockade. The flyover opened to traffic on Wednesday, significantly easing the passage of vehicles. However, as of today, farmers have decided that it will reopen, while it will be closed again on New Year's Eve.

On Monday, farmers emphasize that they will close bypass roads, while reopening them to facilitate them.

On New Year's Day, citizens will move freely like on Christmas, as public broadcaster ERT reports, the overpass is open and vehicles diverted from the Platikampos intersection moving from Thessaloniki to Athens, via the Old National Road, will re-enter the highway at the Kileer intersection. /CNA
