War/UN: Countries that supply weapons to parties in conflict have a "moral

The UN said on Monday that all countries that supply arms to parties to the conflict have a "moral responsibility".

"Regarding the transfer of arms anywhere in the world, I think that those countries that supply arms to parties to a conflict have a moral responsibility to ensure that they are not used in violation of international law," the UN spokesman said . Stephane Dujarric during a press conference.

Asked about the reaction of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to a joint letter addressed by Turkey to the UN together with 52 countries and two international organizations calling for the cessation of arms supplies to Israel, Dujarric said : "It is up to the member states to act. "

On November 1, Turkey, along with 52 other signatories, sent a joint letter to the UN Security Council, calling for immediate action to stop the flow of arms and ammunition to Israel.

Also asked about Israel's letter to UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang about his decision to withdraw from an agreement on UNRWA, Dujarric reiterated that the UN's position is "unchanged".

Dujarric recalled that UNRWA's field of work is not only humanitarian, but also education and health care.

"Any failure to provide the necessary support to the (Palestinian) population will be Israel's responsibility," he said, adding that the agency "continues to operate today."

On October 28, 92 members of the 120-seat Knesset, or Israeli parliament, voted in favor of suspending UNRWA's activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, a move that was widely condemned around the world, including by European and Western countries. and international organizations.
