When will Kosovo get the status of a candidate country in the EU?/ Von der

The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, spoke during a conference for the media regarding Kosovo's request to receive the status of a candidate country in the EU.

Von der Leyen said that the EC is clear with its expectations from Kosovo. She defined the implementation of the association agreement as a criterion.

"I think it is important for Kosovo that this country has the main goal of EU membership. We are clear about what we expect from Kosovo. We discussed the implementation of the association agreement. If we look at Kosovo and Serbia, it is important for us to give each country the opportunity to move, but not to tie them too much together", said the president of the EC.

Even the Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, mentioned the tensions with Serbia as the issue that prevents Kosovo from obtaining the status of a candidate country.

"For Kosovo, the European path goes through a successful dialogue", emphasized Varhelyi./ CNA
