Kosovo prohibits the use of TikTok in public institutions

The Government of Kosovo has approved a decision that prohibits the use and operation of the TikTok application in the state institutions of the country.

During the meeting of the Government of Kosovo held on June 28, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Bardhyl Dobra, said that the ban on this platform is due to the cyber risks it presents.

This decision aims "to protect the state institutions of Kosovo against cyber security threats and actions which can be used for cyber attacks against the infrastructure of information technology and communication of the institutions of Kosovo", he said.

The Government's decision obliges all public institutions that own and administer state communication networks "to establish the necessary technical restrictions for the prohibition of the operation of TikTok application services in official workplaces. "Also, all public officials are obliged to remove the TikTok application and its installation files from official devices," said Dobra. The government of Kosovo said that the ban on TikTok in institutions was done following the example of allied countries.

Many countries around the world have imposed restrictions on this platform, due to security concerns, while the European Union has banned the use of TikTok in its institutions./ Rel
