Kiev: Russian forces have hit a UN aid convoy

Russian forces have hit a United Nations aid convoy in the Ukrainian region of Kherson, which is partially occupied by Moscow, Kiev said on October 14, adding that there were no casualties in the attack.

The head of the regional military administration said Russian drones and artillery strikes were carried out near the town of Bilozerka, which is on the war front.

"The invaders deliberately targeted UN OCHA trucks with drones and artillery," local official Oleksandr Prokudin wrote on social media.

He said that the convoy consisted of four cars and "one car was completely burned, while another was severely damaged," while the other two cars escaped the attack.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga called the attack "another brutal violation of international law, which demonstrates Russia's total disregard for civilian life and its international obligations."

The UN has not yet commented on this incident and there has also been no reaction from Moscow.

Prokudin published a photograph showing a white truck with the World Food Program emblem that had been engulfed in fire.

Since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Ukrainian authorities and aid groups have said their staff and buildings have been bombed by Moscow's forces./REL
