Internet problems/ Vote counting does not start in three municipalities of

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that due to internet problems, the vote counting process has not started in three municipal counting centers (MCCs): in Pristina, Podujevo and Kllokot.

This problem was also clarified by the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, a day ago, when he said that the problem lies in "the transmission of images on televisions/screens for observers."

"These screens display footage from the camera placed on the counting table where the ballots are presented, for everyone to see," he wrote on his Facebook account.

Meanwhile, the count is continuing in other centers, except in Han i Elezit, where the count and verification was concluded on Monday evening.

According to CEC data, so far the results for mayors have been verified, the results of political entities for municipal assemblies have been verified, and the votes for members of municipal assemblies have been counted.

Conditional and diaspora votes have not yet been counted.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, in 21 municipalities, the electoral race ended in the first round, while in 17 others a runoff will take place.

Voter turnout was below 40 percent - lower than in the 2021 local elections.

After this year's parliamentary elections, which were held on February 9, the CEC received widespread criticism for the process, as the website where the results were published was not functioning.

Delays in the start of the counting of votes for candidates for deputies of the Kosovo Assembly and successive problems with the CEC website, whose software for reporting results was constantly crashing, had raised doubts about the integrity of the electoral process.

But the CEC had dismissed the doubts raised about the electoral process, saying that "the integrity of the vote has not been compromised."

This time, the CEC website did not face any problems, but in some municipal counting centers there were problems with the internet connection./REL
