The Kosovar Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) said on Tuesday that the value of the bill for the month of December has increased as a result of "higher electricity expenditure" and non-subsidization of frugal consumers by the Government of Kosovo compared to a year ago. after numerous complaints from consumers.

Many Kosovars have complained on social networks in recent days that the electricity bill for the month of December was much higher compared to the bill of the previous month, or of the same month last year, raising concerns that the price of electricity may adult life

But, KESCO said in an announcement that there has been no increase in the price of electricity since the last increase of 15 percent on April 1 of this year.

"The increase in the value of bills in this winter month is the result of the increase in electricity consumption, especially among consumers who use electricity for heating. Electricity consumption in the amount of more than 800 kwh per month is billed at a higher rate, just as it appears in every customer's bill," said KESCO.

According to KESCO, among the other reasons for the increase in the bill is the non-subsidization of scraper consumers this year by the Government.

Last year, the Government of Kosovo decided to subsidize consumers who save electricity by spending less compared to the same period of the previous year during the winter.

KESCO also explained the electricity price set by the Kosovo Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) in April.

If a household consumer consumes up to 800 kwh, then you are subject to only two blocks, day and night, which in winter start from 22:00 to 7:00. During the day the price is 7.79 cents per kwh, while at night it is about 57 percent cheaper, as it is calculated at 3.34 cents per kwh.

However, prices vary for consumption above 800 kwh. If a customer consumes 1,600 kwh, then the part up to 800 kwh is calculated at the aforementioned prices, while the part above is calculated at 2 other rates: the high one during the day which goes to 14.45 cents per kwh or 85.5 percent more expensive, and that of the night 6.81 cents per kwh or nearly 104 percent more expensive than spending under 800 kwh.

All these prices are marked on every invoice for consumers, said KESCO./ REL
