Israel says it has reopened the main border crossing with the Gaza Strip - a crucial route for humanitarian aid entering the war-torn territory - for the first time since carrying out airstrikes on Iran.
The UN and aid agencies had warned that the closure of the crossings meant Gaza was rapidly running out of food and fuel supplies. Panic buying caused prices to rise sharply in local markets.
The Israeli defense body Cogat, which controls border crossings, said the closure of Kerem Shalom was due to the "rocket threat" that put both Israeli and Palestinian workers at risk. Previously, it insisted that existing supplies would "be enough for a while."
Sources told the BBC that Palestinian trucks carrying aid were sent to Kerem Shalom this morning, but have not yet returned with any goods.
At this stage, the Rafah border crossing with Egypt - the main exit for medical evacuations - remains closed. Cogat said it "will reopen as soon as the security situation allows."/ CNA
