Israel carries out deadly attacks in Lebanon

Lebanon said that drone strikes carried out by Israel on June 10 killed a man and his son in a village in the south of the country.

This is the latest deadly attack, despite a ceasefire reached in November. Israel said those killed were militants.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said in a statement that "Israeli enemy drones carried out an attack on the village of Sheba, killing two people and wounding another."

According to Lebanon's state news agency, the dead were a father and his son, while the victim's other son was injured.

The Israeli military said it had killed a Hezbollah member and an operative from the Lebanese Resistance Brigade, which is a group linked to Iran-backed militant groups.

Hezbollah has been designated a terrorist group by the United States. Meanwhile, the European Union has blacklisted the Lebanese group's military wing, but not its political party.

The Israeli army statement said the two men "possessed weapons used by Hezbollah for terrorist purposes and for surveillance of Israeli soldiers in the region near the border."

Israel has continuously bombed Lebanon, despite a November ceasefire that ended more than a year of hostilities with Hezbollah, including two months of full-scale war.

Last week, Israel warned that it would continue airstrikes on Hezbollah targets across Lebanon.

The Lebanese government has condemned a massive Israeli attack in south Beirut last week, on the eve of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

Hezbollah said the Israeli airstrike leveled nine residential buildings. The Israeli military said the strikes targeted underground factories where drones are manufactured.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack, calling it "a flagrant violation" of the ceasefire agreement./ Rel
