Iran: We are considering new proposals from the United States of America

Iran's Supreme National Security Council has stated that they are reviewing new proposals presented by the United States in recent days.

In a statement, the Council stressed that Tehran would defend its interests and would not make any compromises.

"In recent days, in the presence of the Pakistani army commander in Tehran as a mediator and intermediary of the negotiations, the Americans have presented new proposals, which the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently considering and has not yet responded to. Iran's negotiating delegation will not make even the slightest compromise, retreat or leniency and will defend with all its might the interests of the Iranian nation," the statement of the Supreme National Security Council said.

The council includes the Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, the heads of his army and the Revolutionary Guard, as well as Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Donald Trump said earlier during a separate press conference that he would have new information on the situation in Iran by the end of the day. A first round of peace talks brokered by Pakistan failed last weekend. /CNA
