US intelligence: Trump was briefed on alleged threats from Iran to kill him
Former President of the USA, Donald Trump

US intelligence officials notified former US President Donald Trump on Tuesday of alleged threats from Iran to kill him, the Republican candidate's campaign said.

"President Trump was notified today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence of genuine and specific threats from Iran to kill him, to attempt to destabilize and cause chaos in the United States," the Trump campaign said in a statement. a statement on Tuesday.

She said that intelligence officials have found that Iranian threats "have increased in recent months" and that US government officials are working to protect Trump and ensure that the election is not affected.

Trump said earlier on his Truth Social page that Iran poses a "huge threat" to his life, adding that Iran's efforts were unsuccessful "but they will try again."

Iran has in the past denied any US claims that it is interfering in American affairs.

US authorities are separately investigating an assassination attempt on Trump at his Florida golf course in September, and a shooting incident at the Republican presidential candidate's July 13 rally in Pennsylvania.

There is no indication that Iran was involved in any of these incidents.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other US federal agencies said last week that Iranian hackers sent unsolicited emails to individuals associated with President Joe Biden's campaign for the November election, which contained parts of stolen and non-public Trump campaign.

They said this was another attempt by Tehran to influence the US elections.

Biden was the Democratic nominee until July 21, when he announced he was withdrawing from the race and endorsed Kamala Harris as his replacement.

In August, the United States accused Iran of conducting cyber operations against the campaigns of two US presidential candidates.

Iran denied the accusations./ REL
