Opening of the LVV campaign for the runoff round / Kurti calls on citizens: Do

The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has delivered his speech at the opening rally of the Vetevendosje Movement campaign for the 2025 local elections, the runoff round. At the beginning of his speech, Kurti particularly greeted the citizens of the municipalities where there will be a runoff. He further stated that the growth of the Vetevendosje Movement in these local elections was slow but sure.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that citizens in the runoff will vote for Vetëvendosje as a political force that aims for modernization and development for the country. During his speech, he called on citizens not to vote for candidates who do not want to work, as according to him, they do not bring development.

"We move with ideas and knowledge and studies. These elections are for the citizens of those municipalities that have gone to the runoff. They have the opportunity to seal the change. Vote for the party that at the central level has significantly increased salaries, pensions and scholarships for students. Meanwhile, at the local level, wherever we have governed, we have invested much more than our predecessors. From the first round, we won three municipalities and went to the runoff in 12 other municipalities, more than any other party. Our growth in local elections has been slow but sure. You will see that this people will surprise you in the runoff and will vote against the backstage blockages, because we want openness, modernization and development of work. We have promised and will keep our word 1 billion euros of investments in municipalities. But you know, I do not give the state budget and tax money to those mayors who do not know how to work well or to those who steal. Do not vote for those who do not know and do not want to "The work, and even those who know, don't like theft. With them there is no development or investment," Kurti said, among other things.

The Central Election Commission approved the list of voters for the second round of mayoral elections, which will be held in 18 municipalities. The municipalities where the runoff will take place are Gjakova, Gjilan, Dragash, Kaçanik, Klina, Fushë Kosova, Mitrovica e Jugut, Obiliq, Rahovec, Peja, Prishtina, Prizren, Suhareka, Vitia, Vushtrri, Junik, Mamusha and Kllokot. The second round will be held on November 9, 2025. According to the CEC decision, 1,158,015 ballots will be printed for this round - about 16% less than the total number of citizens eligible to vote in this round. /CNA
