Faruk Fatih Ozer, founder of the cryptocurrency company Thodex, who was captured in Albania and then extradited to Turkey where he was sentenced to 11,000 years in prison, has ended his life in prison.

In the indictment prepared by the Anatolian Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the company named "Thodex" was founded by Faruk Fatih Özer with a capital of 400 thousand liras and that this platform deceived the complainants through fraudulent behavior regarding their business and transactions.

Prison sentences ranging from 12,164 to 40,562 years were sought for 21 defendants, including Faruk Fatih Özer, on charges of "establishing and managing an organization with the aim of committing a crime", "fraud using information systems as a tool for banks or credit institutions" and "laundering assets derived from fraud and crime committed by traders or company managers and cooperative managers".

Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of the Thodex cryptocurrency exchange, who was wanted, was captured in Albania on August 30, 2022.

Following the extradition decision of the Durrës Court of Appeal in Albania, Özer was sent on April 20, 2023 and arrested by the judge on duty at the Anatolian Court, where he was transferred on April 23.

The 9th Anatolian High Criminal Court, which ruled on the case on September 7, 2023, sentenced Özer to 11,190 years and 6 months in prison for "establishing, managing and joining an organization", "qualified fraud" and "money laundering"./ CNA
