Iran has condemned US President Donald Trump's order to the Pentagon to begin testing nuclear weapons, calling it irresponsible and saying it represents a serious threat to global peace and security.
"The announcement to resume nuclear weapons testing is a retrograde and irresponsible action, a serious threat to global peace and security. The world must unite to hold the US accountable for normalizing the spread of such hateful weapons," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a post on the X platform.
He also points out that the US is demonizing Iran's nuclear program and threatening his country's nuclear facilities with new attacks.
"By renaming the 'Ministry of Defense' to the 'Ministry of War,' a nuclear-armed provocateur is resuming nuclear weapons tests. The same provocateur is demonizing Iran's peaceful nuclear program and threatening new attacks on our protected nuclear facilities, in flagrant violation of international law," the Iranian foreign minister noted. /CNA
