Russian attacks cause fire at grain store in Odesa

Russian drones attacked ports and grain storage facilities in the south of Ukraine's coastal Odesa region in the early hours of Wednesday, setting some of them on fire, regional governor Oleh Kiper wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

There were no reports of casualties, he said. 

Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukraine's agricultural and port infrastructure after refusing to extend the Black Sea Grain Agreement, which had allowed Ukrainian wheat exports, The Guardian reports.

The United States has been told that Russia is ready to return to talks on the agreement allowing the safe export of Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea.

But, "we still haven't seen any evidence of that," the US envoy to the United Nations said on August 1.
