Former President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has reacted to the passing of American Congressman, Eliot Engel.

In her reaction on social media, Osmani states that Engel was a supporter of Kosovo and the voice of Albanians in the US Congress and beyond.

She emphasizes that the congressman did not stop supporting Kosovo even when his health condition deteriorated.

A great man, a good man, a rare friend of Kosovo, left us today!

Congressman Eliot Engel was much more than just a supportive congressman for Kosovo. He loved the people of Kosovo with all his heart and was with us in challenges and successes. Wherever I traveled in the world, I met leaders who told me, “Eliot Engel called us to ask us to recognize Kosovo,” and others who said, “I signed the recognition of Kosovo because I promised Eliot Engel.”

Everyone I met in Congress would say: “You had a great friend here, who was always talking about Kosovo.” He never stopped this help and this support, even when his health deteriorated.

In fact, he was our voice in the US Congress and beyond. Therefore, his memory will be eternal in the hearts of all citizens of Kosovo!
