Unusual on Australian plane/ Passenger bites stewardess, flight diverted

Australia's Qantas airline was forced to divert a flight bound for the United States and was forced to make a stop in Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, due to an unusual event.  

It is learned that a passenger bit a Qantas staff member, as reported by local media.

"The safety of our customers and our crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive or threatening behaviour on our flights," a Qantas spokesperson said.

The passenger was met by local authorities upon arrival and was given a flight ban on all Qantas aircraft. /CNA
