Dimal Basha: I feel the great responsibility that has been entrusted to me

In his first speech after being elected head of the legislative body, Basha spoke about the responsibility he feels, the importance of the Assembly, and called on MPs for cooperation.

"While I feel honored and grateful for your vote, I also feel the great responsibility that has been entrusted to me. The Assembly is the heart of our democracy, the place where the voices of all citizens are represented," said Basha.

He emphasized that Kosovo “is built on sacrifices and on the shared belief that our freedom and our state are greater than any vested interest. Our republic is built on countless sacrifices: on the blood, toil and endurance of those who believed that the future of the nation was more important than their own lives.”

"A humble and heartfelt thanks goes to women, girls, our mothers and sisters, who, generation after generation, sacrificed, raised, worked in silence and offered love and dedication. They were and remain the foundation of a healthy society that we enjoy," Basha underlined.

He added that defending Kosovo should be the duty of everyone, the government and the opposition, despite the fact that he expects major differences between parties, because "we live in a democracy."

"I call on you for cooperation. It is time to prove that despite political differences, we have the courage and wisdom to work together for the highest interest of our country," he stressed.
