Political deadlock ends / Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly elected

Finally, the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo have elected the new speaker.

After 58 sessions, Dimal Basha was elected Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo with 73 votes in favor, 30 against and three abstentions.

Who is Dimal Basha?

According to the biography published on the Vetëvendosje Movement website, Dimal Basha was born on October 12, 1979 in Pristina and lives in the city of Ferizaj.

He completed his higher education at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, graduating with the highest honors in the field of “International Criminal Law.” Dimali also completed his Master’s degree in International Relations, with a focus on “Conflict and Security,” at The New School University, also in New York.

In politics, Dimal Basha has served as a deputy of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo for two terms and has now been elected for the third time.

He has been a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Legislation, the Committee on the Supervision of the KIA and the Committee on Stabilization and Association. / CNA
