"Electricity prices for companies will not increase", said the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabi?, reacting to rumors that the government will increase the price from 95 euros to 120 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

Prime Minister Ana Brnabiq denied that the price of electricity for businesses will increase to 120 euros per MWh. She emphasized that the current prices are 70 euros per MWh for citizens and 95 euros per MWh for companies and added that they are the lowest in Europe.

The claim that the price of electricity will increase to 120 euros per MWh has been published to destabilize Serbia, she told Pink.

Brnabiq said that the price of electricity in the market varies from 350 euros per MWh to more than 600 euros per MWh, adding that the government is subsidizing them to make the economy more competitive.

The price of electricity for companies has been under government control since November last year.

Since November of last year, the Government of Serbia has controlled the price of electricity for businesses, which used to be formed in the free market. The government chose this move because of the energy crisis and a heavy increase, 200% of the market price, to 150 euros per MWh.

The tariff was last increased at the end of August, from 75 euros per MWh to 95 euros per MWh or almost 27%.

The decision is valid until the end of December, when the government has planned to update it./ CNA.al
