A surprise attack has occurred in Gaza. According to foreign media, Israel has fired thousands of rockets.

Dozens of gunmen from the Islamist militant group Hamas appear to have infiltrated southern Israel in a surprise attack and are currently on the loose with videos of street shootings.

Mohammed Deif, the leader of the Islamist militant group, said 5,000 rockets had been fired into Israel to launch what he called "Operation Al-Aqsa Storm".

"We've decided to say enough is enough," said Deif.

"We have warned the enemy before. The occupation carried out hundreds of massacres against civilians. Hundreds of martyrs and wounded died this year due to the crimes of the occupation.
