The High Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade filed an appeal on Friday against the judge's decision, which rejected its request for the detention of Millan Radoicic earlier this week, it confirmed to Radio Free Europe (REL).

The prosecution filed a complaint due to the risk of Radoicic's escape, after the armed attack on September 24 in the village of Banjské, in the north of Kosovo, for which Millan Radoicic himself took responsibility.

The High Public Prosecutor's Office told REL that the complaint was submitted "because of the incorrect and incomplete factual situation".

"The appeal requests the change of the decision taken and the appointment of detention for the suspects", says the response of the Prosecutor's Office.

The Kosovo Police was attacked by an armed Serb group in the village of Banjské, in the municipality of Zveçan on September 24, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed. In the ensuing fighting in the village monastery, three Serb attackers were killed.

Serbia has rejected Kosovo's accusations that it is behind the attack described by the Kosovo authorities as an "attempt to annex the north of Kosovo".

Radoicic, the former vice president of Lista Serbe, the largest Serb party in Kosovo that has the support of official Belgrade, claimed responsibility for the attack about five days later.

On October 3, Radoiçiqi was arrested, interrogated and ordered to be held in police custody for up to 48 hours.

However, he was released a day later after the judge refused to remand him.

In the appeal on October 5, the highest Serbian Prosecutor's Office asked for the decision to be changed and the detention of Radoicic, according to Serbian television N1. /REL
