Europol "dismantles" the cell that trafficked contraband/ 5 Bulgarians in handcuffs

Europol supported the Bulgarian authorities in "dismantling" a group of migrant smugglers who used the "Balkan Route" to enter Europe. 

The criminal group is believed to have acted as a logistics cell of a larger migrant smuggling network active in several European countries.

The investigation showed that illegal immigrants were driving from the eastern part of Bulgaria (the cities of Burgas and Yambol) to Sofia and then to the Bulgarian border with Serbia. 

Migrants paid between 1,000 and 3,000 euros per person to reach the Serbian border. 

During the action, 5 Bulgarian citizens were arrested and checks were carried out in 7 apartments.

Meanwhile, rental car documents, contracts for the purchase and sale of cars, other documents related to criminal activities, electronic equipment and 10,000 euros in cash were seized.
