Belarus claims drones were mistakenly over Poland

Belarus' Deputy Defense Minister, Pavel Muravyeika, claims that the drones that entered Polish airspace did so accidentally, after their navigation systems were jammed.

In a video on the defense ministry's official Telegram channel, he claims that the drones "lost their way" and that Belarus itself had shot down some of them over its territory.

He said that between 23:00 and 04:00 local time (21:00 to 02:00 BST), his forces, Poland and Lithuania had shared information through "communication channels" about the alleged rogue drones.

This could be the explanation Russia finally gives for what Polish and EU officials and Ukraine are calling a deliberate violation of Polish airspace./ CNA, translated by BBC
