The meeting between Ukraine and its allies is cancelled

A high-level meeting of the Ramstein group of arms donors to Ukraine has been canceled after US President Joe Biden was forced to cancel his visit to Germany this week due to the approach of Hurricane Milton in Florida, it was said. 9 October two sources from NATO for Radio Free Europe.

The Ramstein Group, also known as the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine, was scheduled to meet during Biden's visit to Germany from October 10 to 13.

The president postponed his Oct. 8 trip "to oversee preparations for and response to Hurricane Milton, as well as the response to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in the Southeast," according to a statement from the White House.

Forecasters have warned that Hurricane Milton, the second in two weeks to hit Florida, could turn into the worst natural disaster to hit the state in a century.

Biden and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor warned people in evacuation zones to leave or risk death.

Milton is expected to hit Florida later on October 9, while West Florida is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which flooded roads and homes in the area two weeks ago.

That storm left at least 230 dead across the southern United States.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had declared about the preparations for this meeting as early as last month.

He had stressed the need to make progress before this meeting to assure Western allies of Ukraine's battlefield capabilities./REL
