Hot air balloon accident in Turkey/ 1 dead and 31 injured

In Aksaray, Turkey, two hot air balloons that took off from the Ihlara Valley for tourist flights on Sunday crashed near the village of Gözlukuyu.

The pilot of one of the balloons lost his life, while 31 tourists were injured.

Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoglu stated that the pilot fell from the balloon's basket because his feet became entangled in the rope.

 "Unfortunately, our pilot lost his life while being trapped under the basket. Our tourists are in good condition, we took them to the hospital by ambulance, their examinations are continuing," said Kumbuzoglu.

In another apparently unrelated accident, a hot air balloon was reported to have made a hard landing near the village of Belis?rma in the Güzelyurt district. 12 tourists from India were slightly injured and taken to hospital./CNA
