Will the US attack Iran? / Donald Trump answers

President Trump has stated that he is not happy with Iran after recent talks over its nuclear program, but said he had not yet decided whether to attack the country.

"I'm not happy with the fact that they're not willing to give us what we have," Trump said in his first comments on the Geneva negotiations that ended Thursday without an agreement.

The US president stressed that he did not want to use military force against Iran, but said that sometimes you are forced to do it.

Concerns about the possibility of US strikes on Iran led a number of countries to issue warnings to their citizens in the region on Friday. The United Kingdom temporarily withdrew staff from its embassy in Tehran and updated its travel guidance to advise against "all but essential travel" to Israel.

Countries such as China, India and Canada also urged their citizens to leave Iran as soon as possible due to the possibility of an attack. Germany and France also advised citizens not to travel to Israel.

Trump has threatened military action against Tehran if it fails to reach a deal on its nuclear ambitions. He has ordered the largest US military buildup in the Middle East since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, while Iran has vowed to respond forcefully to an attack.

The US and its allies suspect Iran is moving towards developing a nuclear weapon, something Tehran has always denied. Vice President JD Vance told the Washington Post on Thursday that air strikes remained under consideration, but there was "no chance" the US would be involved in a protracted war. /CNA
