"I had no knowledge of Epstein's crimes"/ Bill Clinton testifies

Former US President Bill Clinton testified before the House Oversight Committee, stating that he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes and that he had never perceived any illegal activity during their limited contacts.

In his opening statement, Clinton argued that he had come to the hearing for two reasons: on the one hand, out of respect for the rule of law and the principle that no one is above the law, and on the other, to contribute to the administration of justice and support for Epstein's victims.

He stressed that his acquaintance with Epstein had ended years before his actions were revealed and that during their contacts he had not seen or learned anything suspicious.

At the same time, the former US president also reacted to Hillary Clinton's subpoena, emphasizing that he "had no relationship" with Epstein, had not traveled with him, and had not visited his properties, describing the decision to include him in the investigation as wrong.

Referring to the photos that have been made public, he stressed that “he knows what he saw and what he didn’t see” and that “he did nothing unacceptable.” He also stated that, if he had any doubts about Epstein’s actions, he would have taken action himself to denounce him.

"As someone who grew up in a home with domestic violence, not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had the slightest suspicion about what he was doing, but I would have denounced him myself and led the effort to get justice for his crimes, not for favorable agreements," he stressed.

He admitted that he often answers “I don’t remember,” noting that he has no intention of speculating about events that happened decades ago, especially under the weight of his oath. In closing, he declared that he is ready to answer any questions from the Commission, “legal, reasonable, or even extreme.”

On Thursday, February 26, it was Bill Clinton's wife, Hillary, who testified before the US Congress regarding Epstein, while she also denied having had direct ties to the notorious financier, while stating that her questioning was politically motivated by the administration of current President Donald Trump. /CNA
