Shooting attack in Jerusalem/ At least 6 dead, 12 injured

Palestinian attackers opened fire at a bus stop at a busy intersection in north Jerusalem, killing six people and wounding 12 others.

The incident was confirmed by Israeli police, emergency rescue services and local hospitals.

Police said the attackers shot people waiting at a bus stop, while Israeli media reported that the attackers also boarded a bus and opened fire inside.

A security officer and a civilian shot the attackers shortly after the incident began to stop the attack. Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the status of the attackers or their identities.

It was not immediately clear who carried out the shooting or what the motive was.

The Palestinian militant group Hamas named two Palestinian "resistance fighters" who it said carried out the attack, but did not claim responsibility. /CNA
