Gent Sejko: Fluctuations in inflation are expected in the coming months

Gent Sejko, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, showed today that the inflation rate has started to fall, while on the other hand, the activity of the economy has started to increase.

He said in a statement to the media that we will have fluctuations in inflation during the next two or three months.

"Data analysis shows that the Albanian economy has moved in the expected direction. Economic activity, employment and wages are starting to increase, inflation is falling. the financial markets have been calm and lending has grown progressively. The gradual and careful normalization of the stance of the monetary policy has contributed positively to this progress", said Sejko.

According to him, in the last three months the inflation of consumer prices suffered a significant decrease, while in the first three months the average inflation decreased to 2.7% from 3.9 in the previous three months.

Sejko emphasized that the downward trend of inflation in the country depends on the inflation of the partners, the strengthening of the exchange rate, as well as the normalization of the stance of the monetary policy./ CNA
