The Bank of Albania changes the AIPS, AIPS EURO and AECH payment systems

The Bank of Albania announced today that it has made several changes to payment systems, as part of modernization, to make them faster, cheaper and more accessible to citizens and businesses.

The main benefits are:

Electronic payments up to 40,000 Lekë → no commission for citizens

Commissions for payments up to 10 million Lekë → reduced almost 10 times

Payments in Euros (€) → commissions are reduced by about 10 times

Regarding payments in Lek:

Up to 40,000 Lek → 0 commission

From 40,000 – 10,000,000 Lekë → 0.005% of the value, but not more than 500 Lekë

Over 10,000,000 Lekë → no more than 750 Lekë

Payments in Euro (domestic and international – SEPA)

Up to €100,000 → 0.01% of the value

Over €100,000 → no more than €25

Transactions received from SEPA countries → 0 – 3€ maximum

Transactions initiated in branches have commissions that are twice as high as electronic ones.

These changes aim to save Albanian citizens and businesses around 40 million euros per year./ CNA
