257 thousand debtors risk receiving services from DPSHTRR; Plan of measures

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DGRTS) reminds debtors of the annual tax for used and luxury vehicles that they will not benefit from the services if they do not repay their obligations.

The DPSHTRR announces that nationwide there are 256,741 debtors who have not paid the annual tax on used and luxury vehicles. 84% of the debtors are individuals and 16% of them are businesses.

100,453 debtors or 39% of them are in the Tirana region, followed by Durrës with 35,153 debtors and Shkodra with 17,881 debtors with outstanding annual obligations.

Regarding the collection of liabilities from late payments of the annual tax on used and luxury vehicles, the DPSHTRR says that it has continued with the plan of measures that include:

-Written notifications with a monthly frequency from the responsible Regional Directorates;

-Digital notifications through a-Albania regarding the expiration of the vehicle tax validity period;

-Field identification through the monitoring system;

-Prohibition of providing service for assets that result in debt.

In case of non-payment of obligations, DPSHTRR reminds all debtors that debtor funds do not receive the following services:

-Change of ownership;

-Replacement of license plates (in case of damage or loss);

-Physical check (certification of tinted windows);

-National and international traffic permits;

-Technical Control;

-Vehicle registration;

-ADR and CEMT certificates;

-Various confirmations related to the vehicle.

The total amount of unpaid debt for the annual used vehicle tax (TVMP) and luxury vehicle tax (TVML) amounts to around 17 billion lek, or approximately 170 million USD, with obligations dating from 2012 to June 2025./ Monitor.al
