5th Bank Museum Conference/Governor Sejko: Focus on the role of central banks

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, opened today the proceedings of the 5th Conference of the Museum of the Bank of Albania, on the topic "Central Banks and Economic History: Reflections and Perspectives" where local and foreign researchers, as well as experts from the central banks of the region, participate, to discuss the role of central banks and economic history in the 19th-21st centuries.

Governor Sejko emphasized that by bringing together historians, museologists, researchers, and economists in this conference, we exchange new perspectives on how monetary institutions evolve, how monetary decision-making shapes outcomes, and how credibility is gained and maintained.

This conference does not only study the past, it also aims to pose the right questions for the future.

The Governor underlined that Albania's path towards EU integration has been a central pillar of institutional and economic reforms. The Bank of Albania plays a very important role in this process, aligning its policies and practices with European standards with the aim of strengthening the stability, transparency and resilience necessary for membership.
