There is some information, according to which, from the verification carried out by SPAK, of Ms. Xoxa's bank accounts, entries and exits and documentation found at duty-free counters in several countries, Ms. Xoxa has, over 3 years, recovered in the form of VAT refunds, a total amount exceeding 200,000 euros.
Of course, this is not about purchases in duty-free shops, but about refunds of amounts paid as VAT in stores in countries where Mrs. Xoxa has stayed or visited.
The value of VAT varies from country to country and in any case, at the final exit from the customs point of the country, or the area visited, the amount calculated as VAT is not refunded in full. A portion is retained as a processing fee by the duty-free counter where the refund is made.
In general, the amount received as a refund ranges from 10-12% of the amount paid for the purchased item.
In this case, if we do the calculation backwards, it turns out that for a reimbursement value of at least 200,000 euros, purchases must have reached a total of 2 million euros.
So, based on data on refundable VAT alone, Ms. Xoxa's spending on purchasing goods over a 3-year period must have been at least 2 million euros.
It should be considered that the reimbursement is not done as an unsolicited process. It is not an automatic process nor a procedure that occurs regardless of the will of Mrs. Xoxa.
To benefit from the right to a refund, Ms. Xoxa filled out forms and submitted a photocopy of her passport to every store where she purchased clothing or other items (apparently of value).
It is easy to verify from those letters whether purchases were made with CASH or bank cards. Just as it is easy to arrive at the price for each dress designed by Mrs. Xoxa's grandmother.
In any case, it would be a total of more than 2 million euros. This figure spent on purchases is not justified by the income of the Veliaj-Xoxa couple.
It is clear that these are not funds from Ms. Xoxa's work as a lawyer (whose qualifications are highly questionable) nor from her activity as an art curator in the rented villa in Bllok. These funds are certainly undeclared gifts or tips to the Mayor of Tirana and/or the wife of the Mayor of Tirana.
And although it was about CASH secured without any hassle, Mrs. Xoxe behaved like a true hostess, demanding a refund of the amounts paid as VAT.
Beyond the appreciation for the hospitality shown, Mrs. Xoxa should also be thanked because, by fulfilling requests for reimbursement of expenses, she has proven to have spent beyond the legitimate funds of the Xoxa family.
Anyone who has accused Erion Veliaj of corruption with evidence should today thank Ms. Xoxa for who she is.
They should be thankful that it exists! /CNA
