The US has had a historical policy of preserving its reserves. In his first presidency, he boosted the country's oil extraction industry to reduce imports. But America's transformation into a potential exporting country will change many relationships in the black gold market, which has built economic empires in the middle of the Middle Eastern desert, or which keeps powers like Russia afloat.
