The Supreme Court has announced that it will hold a special meeting with all judges of Albania. The meeting will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the premises of the High Judicial Council.

The Supreme Court's announcement states that this meeting, which is called after the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja, represents a moment of unity, reflection, and moral strength for the entire judicial body of the country.

The recent serious and painful event, which deeply shocked the judicial system and public opinion, has highlighted the fragile security situation, but also the importance of the respect that must accompany the exercise of the judicial function.

Following the agreement expressed by all judges of the Supreme Court and after the meeting held with the deputy presidents of all courts in the country, the President of the Supreme Court has been authorized, in the exercise of institutional responsibilities, to convene all judges of the Republic of Albania to a special meeting, which will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the premises of the High Judicial Council.

This meeting represents an important moment of unity, reflection and moral strength for the entire judicial body of the country, which will express clearly and with dignity that:

· no act of violence will bend justice;

· no threat will prevent the judge from performing his duty honestly;

· no political or public pressure will violate the independence of the judiciary.

The judges of the Republic of Albania will stand united, with courage and determination, to protect not only their lives and dignity, but also the very right of citizens to impartial and independent justice.

At this sensitive moment, the judiciary addresses public opinion with trust and respect, inviting everyone to understand that justice is no one's enemy, but the strongest shield of society and every citizen against injustice and violence.
