Journalist Klodiana Lala has stated that an in-depth investigation is needed into the incident in Maliq where officer Enea Mekolli was killed.

According to the journalist, the statement of the head of the State Police, Skënder Hita, showed that there was a bypassing of the institutional path by the Korça Police and if this is the case, the senior officials of this DVP should be held criminally responsible.

"This event is very serious and shows that police forces must have a different approach to actions against wanted persons."

If there was a special operation, why weren't RENEA or special forces called in? The danger posed by this person was overlooked.

There must be a thorough investigation into this event and institutional accountability.

If you look carefully, there was also a statement from Hita and it didn't make much sense to me because it said that the General Directorate of the State Police was not aware of this operation. If the Korca Police bypassed the institutional path and did not notify their superiors, at the very least there is abuse of power and there should be criminal liability against the Korca Police officials.
