The EU Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, reacted after the Macedonian parliament voted with 68 votes in favor of the French proposal.
Through a reaction on "Twitter", Varhelyi emphasizes that the opening of negotiations for the membership of North Macedonia in the EU is already expected and informs that the Intergovernmental Conference will be held in Brussels on Tuesday.
" I welcome the result of today's vote after the deliberate discussions of the last few days in Parliament giving a clear mandate for the Government to start the first IGC based on the proposal of France. We look forward to the opening of North Macedonia's membership negotiations on Tuesday while we meet for the IGC in Brussels" , writes Varhelyi./ CNA.al
