Sherefedin Shehu, economic expert, in "Interview" on A2 CNN, stated that the Transparency Board that the government set up to control fuel prices in the country, is "theater" and "cartel".
"In Albania, the market is controlled. The same is with fuels and the same is with staple foods. The government has a parliamentary body, called antimonopoly, which has the task of analyzing and mitigating monopoly positions in the market. This should be done continuously. Just look at the board that the government put up, it's a theater. It is a cartel that the government has created with businesses because the government sits at the table, does the shopping and sets the price of fuel," said Shehu.

"Citizens have tightened their belts because they had no support from the government. The tax cut is not effective because it does not guarantee a price cut. All institutions should think about guaranteeing the freedom of the market, which is missing in Albania. If the market would work, we would also challenge these monopolists", added Shehu. /CNA.al
