The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has stated that there have been many police operations which were betrayed from within the police due to the leakage of information.

Balla says this is a very valuable thing as it affects the taking of evidence.

He also mentions the self-cleaning of the police, which he says is not only a challenge for the Albanian state police.

"The challenge of self-purification of the police is not only a challenge of the Albanian state police. During a conversation with Secretary Braverman, we shared the same assessment that even in Britain she is engaged in the process of self-purification of the police, and I believe that this is something that I often discuss with all counterparts from the European Union countries, but not only. The truth is that it existed and exists also because of the phenomenon of familiarity, the lack of a clear division and the lack of respect for the code of ethics and the law regarding the contacts that a manager or any police officer may have. It is intolerable for a director of a local directorate to appear in public, in the presence of persons who are subject to police work, registered in the daily work registers. This not only destroys credibility, but leaks information anyway.

The truth is that we have had many police operations that have been betrayed from within the police due to information leaks. You know that the documentation of many criminal activities depends a lot on surprise, the first moment of control where you can find dirty information. I can share with you the fact that we have discovered a case of international drug trafficking, between Albania and a neighboring country, fortunately for no moment there was any debunking of this operation from what we found could go to discovered many other criminal events. We will have cases like these in the days to come,"  said Balla.
