The prestigious British media has published an investigative article about the offshore company "Alpha", where the leader of the "Vula" Party, Lulzim Basha, is included in its illegal activity.
The BBC sheds light on the photo taken by Lulzim Basha with former president Donald Trump in March 2017, which coincides with the election campaign in Albania.
The British media points out that the firm involved, "Biniatta Trade LP", paid an American lobbyist in the name of Lulzim Basha to take the photo with Trump.
The lobbyist organized access to Republican politicians and a fundraiser and in the end it turned out that the financing was done by Russia worth 500 thousand dollars.
"In addition to exploiting this loophole, Alpha may have violated the law regarding Scottish partnerships. In March 2017, the firm involved, Biniatta Trade LP, paid an American lobbyist on behalf of Lulzim Basha, head of the Democratic Party of Albania. The lobbyist organized access to Republican politicians and a fundraiser where Mr. Basha was able to take a photo with then-President Donald Trump — a photo later used in the Albanian election campaign. Reports last year suggested that US intelligence believed the election campaign Mr Basha, whose slogan was "Make Albania Great Again", was secretly supported by Russia with 500,000 dollars", the BBC article states.
What is more important, is that the ownership of "Biniatta Trade LP" was related to the offshore company Alpha. It turned out that a Russian national named Maxim Trofimets owned Biniatta Trade LP, and had secretly signed deals with Alpha.
"Biniatta's ownership was hidden through the secrecy of offshore companies and fake directors, but leaked Alpha documents include an agreement from 2015, when the partnership was formed, which named the beneficial owner as a Russian national named Maxim Trofimets. In the summer of 2017, when Scottish partnership law changed, Mr Trofimets was not declared as Biniatta's "significant control person" and an Alpha nominee falsely claimed the firm had provided all the information it needed . The next day, the same Alpha candidate secretly signed a new power of attorney agreement, renewing Mr. Trofimets' control over Biniatta," the article further states.
Another detail published by the BBC is that Basha did not want to give information to this media, as he had declared in the Council of Europe that there was no conflict of interest and that he could make a report supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine, after the Russian holiday. In fact, the investigation showed that Basha collaborated with the Russians.
"In September this year, the Council of Europe appointed Mr Basha to prepare a report on supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine after the Russian occupation. He said he had no conflict of interest. The BBC tried to contact Mr Trofimets and Mr Basha, but they did not respond," the article says./ CNA
