Sad news/ Doctor Nikollaq Gurllari passes away

A sad news was announced this Wednesday evening.

Kor?ar doctor, Dr. Nikollaq Gurllari passed away at the age of 76 due to a serious illness.

Gurllari passed away on October 30, but the news was only confirmed this evening by the Medical Order of Korça District.

The doctor made an outstanding contribution to Korça as an obstetrician-gynecologist.

Dr. Nikollaq Gurllari completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Tirana, in the years 1965-1970. He specialized in Obstetrics-Gynecology at the Tirana Obstetrics-Gynecology Hospital 1971-1973 and immediately started working as an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Maternity Hospital.

Gurllari worked alongside prominent Korcar doctors such as Gaqo Pulluqi, Luiza Kole and Fredi Themeli.

He made monthly visits to the Lozhan Health Center and contributed to the technical-professional development of midwives in the area.

The doctor performed obstetrical and gynecological visits at the Carpet Company, while for many years he was also the State Sanitary Inspector for Maternity.

In 1981, Gurllari was appointed Head of the Birth Department, a position he held for about 25 years. Specifically, he was Head of the Department of Births in the years 1981-1992 and 1999-2012.

In 1979, he completed a qualification course at the Military Hospital in the specialty "War Surgery". He taught as an external teacher in the lower and secondary medical schools of the city of Korça and, from 2002 onwards, he was an external lecturer in the Nursing Department of the "Fan S. Noli" University./ CNA
