Rally in Korça/ Citizens: We protest so that young people can build the

Hundreds of citizens responded to the call to join the protest held in the Pedestrian Zone of Korça. Before the rally began, participants held a minute of silence in honor of State Police officer Enea Mekolli, who lost his life the day before while performing his duty.

Carrying national flags and placards, the protesters expressed their dissatisfaction with a number of issues that they believe affect the future of the country. During the rally, chants against the political class were also heard.

One of the citizens said that the high participation in the protest was a signal that citizens do not want to remain indifferent to developments in the country.

"I didn't expect so many people today. I was pessimistic. I thought there wouldn't be so many pedestrians. I am very happy, first of all because we as a nation have fought for this nation to exist, for the Albanian language to be inherited between generations. Albania is not for sale and to enrich our politicians. Albania belongs to Albanians and we will fight with kindness and love," the citizen said.

Participants also raised concerns related to property protection, the development of different areas of the country, and the departure of young people from Albania.

"It is my first protest and I came to raise my voice for a cause which is Zvërnec, but also for many other causes which include the mountain package or through irregular laws that many lands of our heirs have been taken. I am not against developments, but I am against developments which belong only to the upper and rich class" , said one of the participants.

Another citizen said that the reason for participating in the protest was related to the desire for young people to build their future in Albania.

"I have two daughters, one is there and one is here, whom I do not want to take away from Albania. I want them to stay here in this country, where God has given everything to this country. I think that Zvërnec was simply the last straw because I am sure that each of us has at least five reasons for coming here. From the depopulation of Albania, to healthcare, education and many other issues ," said the citizen.

The protest took place without incident, while organizers warned that citizen reactions will continue in the coming days. /CNA
