The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has requested an in-depth investigation into the murder of officer Enea Mekolli.

Berisha said that it should be investigated whether there was a cover-up of the operation and whether Enea Mekolli's unit should have been sent to arrest a dangerous person of Violand Braçellari's stature.

Berisha has also leveled accusations against the head of the State Police, stating that instead of resigning, he wants to defend his position.

"But his failure to act raises another major issue that needs to be investigated. Was his unit the one that should have been sent to arrest or neutralize an armed bandit? An armed criminal?"

Or are the other units, those that are legally obligated to fulfill this mission?

Was Mekolli's unit equipped with all the means for protection from firearms? It is very difficult to believe the statements of the police chief, who with them demands at all costs to protect his chair instead of immediate resignation.

Every communication and every action is made with the approval of the Director General of the Police.

What was his role in this operation? How true is it and what kind of bulletproof vest did Enea Mekolli have?

These are all questions that the Security Committee in Parliament should examine, since here others are in the hands of crime.

I also call on the prosecution to investigate. But the involvement of the Parliament's Security Committee is essential.

Such an operation, to say the least, can be said to be poorly organized and poorly planned.

All communications the killer had to be thoroughly checked to see if we have uncovered a conspiracy behind the operation.

These raise many doubts. But I once again express my greatest respect for Enea Mekolli, who fell in the line of duty as a brave man, as a true hero.
