"Shocked by the situation" / Peleshi reacts after Greece refused

The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, has confirmed the return of the troops who went to help Greece deal with the fire situation.

"We have been informed that it is no longer necessary to interfere with the ground modules provided by Albania because they have been completed by other countries", says Peleshi.

He expresses his shock and concern about the serious situation that neighboring Greece is experiencing due to massive fires, which have not even spared people's lives, and he has expressed readiness to engage at any moment in coping with the situation.

Shocked and worried about the serious situation that neighboring Greece is experiencing from massive fires, which have not even spared people's lives. The most sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this tragedy!

Albania, through the Ministry of Defense and under the coordination of the National Civil Protection Agency, has shown immediate readiness after the request for help sent by Greece to the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

A team of 58 officers and 10 vehicles from the Armed Forces and other operational structures of the Albanian Civil Defense System, more specifically, the firefighting structures from the Municipality of Korçë, Dropull, Maliq and Gjirokastër were deployed in the vicinity of the neighboring country, to help colleagues Greeks, awaiting confirmation from the Greek side for intervention in the areas where they need it.

Meanwhile, after that, we were informed by the Greek side that it is no longer necessary to intervene with the ground modules offered by Albania because they have been completed by other countries.

The Ministry of Defense wishes that the serious situation in the friendly country passes as quickly and as easily as possible and remains committed to stand by friends, partners and neighbors in any case when the threat makes it necessary to reaffirm the principles that unite us. / CNA
