For several weeks, it has been reported about changes in the law on tourism and in the taxation of tourist operators.

The Minister of Finance, Ervin Mete, showed in a press conference who is affected by these changes.

Mete said the tax will not affect individual landlords who post notices on the Booking and Airbnb platforms. He stated that the changes include tourist operators.

"It has nothing to do with the 'Booking' and 'Airbnb' platforms. Nothing changes for individual landlords. But we will provide a clarification, so that they are as clear as possible about their legal responsibilities and enter into a more cooperative approach from the taxpayer service, so that there is a fairer taxation.

Whereas, what changes with today's law, is the establishment of a provision, according to which a methodology for the use of capacities will be determined for tourism operators, according to sectors, which will then be a reference methodology for the taxation of operators, in order to have as fair a declaration as possible of the utilization of the capacities of the tourist operators", emphasized the minister./ CNA
