The head of the parliamentary group Gazment Bardhi has commented on the scandal of ships with toxic waste leaving from the Port of Durrës to Thailand.

According to Bardhi, the contradictory reactions of the Ministry of Tourism and the Kurum company show that the former is lying to protect traffickers or the latter is lying to protect itself from violations of the law it has committed.

"For several days, the international media have reported at least two cases of exports from Albania (to China and Thailand) of thousands of tons of hazardous waste, and the Albanian institutions are silent!

The Ministry of Infrastructure, the Port of Durrës, the Ministry of the Environment, the Directorate of Customs, the State Police, the Prosecutor's Office, no one has any official response as to who these hazardous wastes belong to, how they were created or arrived in Albania.

Only yesterday in some Albanian media was distributed a reaction (without voice and image) of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment publicly declaring that the hazardous waste that was sent from Albania and was blocked in Thailand belongs to the company "Kurum International".

Today, the company "Kurum International" in a public response has denied that this load of hazardous waste belongs to it or was started by it.

In this case there is only one truth. Or the Ministry of Environment has lied to protect the real traffickers of hazardous materials, and in this case this is a state crime, which should receive exemplary punishment; or the company "Kurum International" has lied to cover its violation of the law and this should be immediately accompanied by strong punishment measures from the responsible institutions. The silence or inaction of the institutions after the public refutation by the company "Kurum International" raises strong shadows of suspicion for a state attempt to manipulate the circumstances of this issue with national and international impact", writes Bardhi.

Bardhi further emphasizes that the return of these containers with toxic waste is a serious violation of national security that creates an unprecedented situation of permanent danger to the life and health of citizens.

Bardhi says that the government should react immediately and show what happened and is happening with the ships with toxic waste.

"The return to the Port of Durrës of this extraordinary amount of dangerous waste is a serious violation of national security, which creates an unprecedented situation of permanent danger to the life and health of citizens. Deposition without destination of such a large amount of hazardous waste in Albanian territory would be an immense threat to the life and health of Albanian citizens.

It is necessary immediately and without any delay for the Albanian Government to inform the Parliament of Albania and public opinion about what it is about, to whom the hazardous waste belongs, how it was created or arrived in Albania, how it was allowed to be exported without the relevant permits from the Port of Durres, who has allowed them to enter and leave the territory of the Republic of Albania, from and through the Port of Durres.

"Silence, misinformation or attempted manipulation adds even more uncertainty to the lives of Albanian citizens and, above all, suspicions of a state-licensed criminal activity that endangers the national security of a NATO member country," writes the head of the PD group. -'s.
