"We are not a police institution"/ Adi Krasta responds to critics of
Adi Krasta

Journalist and deputy general director of RTK, Adi Krasta, has reacted to the criticism after an article published last month in RTK where it was claimed that two newspapers based in Pristina are financed by Serbia.

During an interview on the "RTK Prime" show, Krasta reacted and clarified that the story of the punishment is not primary, since television is not a police institution, but seeks to solve the problem.

"The history of punishment is not primary. We are not a police institution, removing heads is not primary for us.

This story of dismissal is an old culture in RTK and in other institutions where there are Albanians, who seek the solution by removing someone from the position.

The problem is not solved but a decision is made to destabilize people and meanwhile the problem is the same. I am interested in choosing the problem.

We have created a collegium of important people who know from the profession. We have set an immediate filter and said never again in the future RTK cannot handle a news that it creates itself or receives from other sources when it has great sensitivities without the agreement of this collegium, so it will not it happens anymore", said Krasta.

In relation to the statements of the former chairman of the board of RTK, Besnik Boletini that Krasta has avoided responsibility, the journalist responds by saying that the chairman of the board should not allow himself to define such a dramatic character because there are certain systems within the institution.

Krasta underlines that one should not rush when making decisions as it is important to be conscious.

According to the journalist, RTK solves the problems itself and they should not be solved due to external pressure.

"RTK must come out with a written position, and this can be done by me, by my colleagues, by the General Director or the General Director when elected. These are problems that RTK solves on its own and should not be solved due to external pressure", underlined Krasta.

Further in his reaction, Krasta stated that RTK's public television should not become the target of other people's battles.

"We will know how to make these processes deep, true, honest and at the right time.

It doesn't even occur to me to believe that there are people in Kosovo who are paid by Serbia, because patriotism has no horns. We love this country and people have died in this country. RTK cannot become a target to solve battles for others", said Krasta.

Adi Krasta said that RTK is typically a public broadcaster, which is faced from time to time with events of various natures, because in the built structure of the institution there is a kind of relative freedom of communication, there is independence in making decisions and it is almost impossible to turned into dictatorial concepts where a news or a way of thinking or a way of expression is controlled to avoid debates that can be made later.

Among other things, Krasta denied that he will exercise the duties of the General Director of RTK and to become such, he needs the authorization of the Board.

"For me to become the director general, the Board would have to take a decision to pass the appropriate quorum, because the deputy director general is in office and we will lead until the Board and here extremely support the sensitivity of the OSCE, institution that has helped RTK and public broadcasters in general, that the Parliament, the Media Commission very quickly must complete the Board for this body to choose the General Director of RTK", said Krasta.

Regarding the statement of the former chairman of the Board of RTK against Krasta, for what reason it came to the resignation of the chairman of the Board, Krasta said that mistakes are usually made even by colleagues.

"In this particular case, Mrs. Spahiu, general director, has taken to the RTK Board a suggestion for a suspension of the RTK editorial chain for as long as a commission set up by her at the request of the Board, an evaluation commission with three people who have signatures and are people who are responsible for RTK to compile a report on one of the certain events that happened at RTK. The Deputy General Director in this particular case has a general director who does this action and the events have continuity... At the moment Mrs. Spahiu resigned, the Board must choose the general director, that's what the regulation says that it could not be delayed, because he is an important person , because he makes the policies of the institution", said Krasta./ CNA
