Muçollari raises doubts: Albania involved in international traffic of
Grigels Muçollari

The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, Grigels Muçollari, announced that they have sent a request for information to the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Directorate, the Port Authority, the Tax Directorate, where transparency is requested on the scandal of ships with toxic waste that departed from the Port of Durrës to Thailand.

Muçollari said that the case of 800 tons of waste has highlighted a phenomenon that we would not like to have happened, that Albania, with this prime minister, with this government, with these ministers and authorities, is involved in the international traffic of waste dangerous.

"Apparently, 800 tons of hazardous waste, suspected of being toxic, that have been discovered by foreign agencies and countries and that are returning by ship to where they started, in Durrës, are only the tip of the iceberg of a criminal phenomenon that has been around for a long time that happens.

It is about 100 containers loaded on July 4 at the Port of Durrës, which they tried to send to Thailand. Another case was reported in the media in April of this year where Albania sent 115 containers of other toxic waste to China.

Meanwhile, KURUM Sh.A has denied the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and declares that the suspected toxic waste is not its own.

Dear citizens, we are dealing with a government scam to support a government crime.

International media, various governments, the Basel Network, and many authorities have reacted and are alarmed.

Only our government is silent and does not make public any document that could provide transparency regarding this dangerous affair.

We are convinced that these large amounts and these types of dangerous traffic cannot happen without the Prime Minister's knowledge.

Today we submitted a request for information to the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Directorate, the Port Authority, the Tax Directorate, where we ask for transparency on this event.

The full legal practice with the respective documents followed so far regarding the two ships (Maersk Campton with 40 containers and Maersk Candor with 60 containers) loaded with suspected toxic waste bound for Thailand, which will be returned to Albania

All these institutions have the possibility to extract this data in 2 minutes, if they want to provide transparency, since they have this data in the system.

While we are waiting for the official answer, doubts are growing that the case of 800 tons has highlighted a phenomenon that we would not like to have happened.

That Albania, with this prime minister, with this government, with these ministers and authorities, is involved in the international traffic of hazardous waste.

We wish it weren't true. But the facts and circumstances so far unfortunately suggest this.

We have been described in these 11 years as narco-states. It would be unbearable if we were also a center for the traffic of dangerous substances. Albanians do not deserve this, just as they do not deserve the government's silence and SPAK's inaction in the face of such a monstrous crime.

The Democratic Party will demand complete transparency so that those responsible can be brought to justice," Muçollari declared./ CNA
