The General Directorate of Prisons has reacted to the statements of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who, at today's media conference, published footage of several bottles of alcohol that, according to him, were filmed in the cells of the Fushë-Krujë prison.

"We are in the Fushë-Krujë prison, look at what it is like there, the bar. This is a prison cell, not a market. It is the prison of the party bandit. Look at what is going on, cocaine, dancing, remember that other guy in the cage. These are murderers, they are responsible for dozens of murders in that cell. Look at the drinks and everything, and the other guy in the cage, the former prime minister. None of the government-controlled media reported it. So look, these guys have the prisons in their hands," said Berisha.

The Prisons Directorate's response states that the content published by Berisha is untrue. It further adds that such an environment does not exist in prison and the presence or consumption of prohibited items, including alcohol, is not tolerated.

“Regarding the claim recently distributed by Mr. Sali Berisha about a video presented as an environment inside the Fushë-Krujë Prison, we clarify that the content is untrue and malicious. There are no such environments in institutions for the execution of criminal decisions and the presence or consumption of prohibited items, including alcohol, is not tolerated under any circumstances. Claims of this nature aim to misinform public opinion and damage the image of the penitentiary system. In recent times, the General Directorate of Prisons has intensified surprise checks and preventive measures against any form of illegality, with concrete and verifiable results. We are aware that we are not yet where we want to be, but our will is unwavering. The General Directorate of Prisons encourages the denunciation of any violation and cooperation with the relevant authorities, but condemns the distribution of false materials, which undermine public trust and institutional efforts to strengthen security and respect for "of the law in the penitentiary system," the response from "Prisons" reads.
